Several years ago, I made a map called Station 15 for the open-source game Tremulous. To my surprise, it has since become a popular Tremulous map on the game servers. I’ve been slowly upgrading it to take advantage of the new capabilities featured by the Unvanquished game engine. This includes higher-resolution textures and lightmaps.
When taking these screenshots, I was amazed at how poorly the map had aged. The textures look very flat and large areas of the map have no lighting contrast, giving the map a dull air. The new lighting and textures make the map a more interesting visual experience, although there are still bugs to iron out for the next release.
The new Station 15 is included in Unvanquished’s Alpha 29 release.
